Online Panel Discussion
9/09/21 6pm. Discover how America used publishing for political agitation in the Cold War through the Congress for Cultural Freedom (CCF) and Franklin Book Programs, and how anti colonial cultural networks including the Afro-Asian Writers Association were formed.
This was a great opportunity to talk with the people behind the Fehras Publishing Practices and also with Elisabeth Holt (Bard College) and Nida Ghouse. The Fehras Publishing Practices explores the “the history and presence of publishing and its entanglement in socio-political and cultural sphere in the Eastern Mediterranean, North Africa, and the Arabic diaspora.” They have put together a fascinating collection of materials that help us better understand the complexities of cultural Cold War across the Middle East. The panel was recorded and hopefully will be available soon. More about this event here.
